Burlingame Tutors' SAT/ACT Test Preparation programs are based on one-on-one, in-home, focused instruction.  The student receives tutoring that is personalized to their unique style and capability.  Our learning plans include realistic and agreed upon goals, flexible scheduling and periodic testing and feedback. This approach yields for the student, his or her best chance at attending a top college or university.  Several standardized programs of different duration and focus are available (see below).  Tailored programs are also available.  All of our programs include the following:

Diagnostically Speaking
Students take a diagnostic test before the program begins. The results of this test will allow us to understand the student's specific strengths and weaknesses.  The results will also give the assigned tutor insight into how to work with each student and create the most optimal plan for achievable goals.  

SAT Programs
SAT Test Schedule: (Saturdays) 10/10/09, 11/07/09, 12/05/09, 01/23/10, 03/13/10, 05/01/10, 06/05/10

15-Session SAT Program
Fifteen 90-minute sessions (22.5 hours of one-on-one instruction).  This program is recommended for most students. The students will learn proven test-taking strategies and strengthen their foundation in math, reading, and writing.

12-Session SAT Program
Twelve 90-minute sessions (18 hours of one-on-one instruction). This program is a more condensed version of the 15-Session Program. Typically, this is recommended for students who don’t have a lot of time, or who are likely in an accelerated or honors level programs.

6-Session Single-Subject Critical Reading Program
Six 90-minute (9 hours of instruction) sessions.  This program concentrates on sentence structure and reading comprehension. This program is great for students wishing to concentrate on the reading section of the SAT.

6-Session Single-Subject Writing Program
Six 90-minute sessions concentrated on grammar and usage, appropriate vocabulary, organization, and clarity. This program is great for students wishing to concentrate only on writing section of the test.

7-Session Single-Subject Math Program
Seven 90-minute sessions concentrated on basic math, algebra I & II, geometry, and data analysis. This program is great for students wishing to concentrate on math section of the test.

ACT Programs

15-Session,  ACT Program 
Fifteen 90-minute sessions (22.5 hours of one-on-one instruction).  This program is structured for the student seeking a thorough review of all elements of the ACT test. Students will learn great test-taking strategies while obtaining a complete review in English, math, and science.

12-Session ACT Program
Twelve 90-minute sessions (18 hours of one-on-one instruction). This program is a more condensed version of the 15-Session Program. This program will be good for those students who want to focus their preparation exclusively on English, reading, math, or science. This is also a great program for students who have previously prepped for the SAT, but want to take the ACT as well.
